Earthquake aid for Morocco
The worst earthquake in a century struck Morocco on Friday night. With a magnitude of 6.8, the quake caused houses to collapse, particularly in Marrakesh and the Atlas region.
More than 2000 people lost their lives and well over 1000 people were injured, some of them seriously.
Shortly after the earthquake, our long-standing supporters Ahmed Mehdaoui and Jeannine Mirschel from L’EVASION TOURS contacted us and asked for our support.
L’EVASION TOURS is actually a tour operator based in Dresden. But you also run a branch office in Marrakesh, Morocco, and many of your employees and acquaintances were affected by the earthquake themselves.
With the support of L’EVASION TOURS, who provide the network and local staff, we have decided to become active in Morocco in addition to our ongoing work in Slovenia.
The L’EVASION TOURS team will be on the ground for us with eyes and ears and will use the funds we provide to make purchases, which they will then take to the affected villages in vehicles.
In the long term, we are looking for local cooperation partners / associations to support the reconstruction.
