First aid shipment to Slovenia
Last weekend, we delivered the first consignment of relief supplies to the flood areas in Slovenia.
Together with our local partners from “Fortuna Hilft”, we were able to send the first transport to a small village on the Austrian/Slovenian border with the support of “Dogs United”. In the last few days, our partners and friends from the civil crisis team “Lohmar Hilft”, “Bürgerverein Odendorf”, “Helfer Stab Rheinland-Pfalz” etc. have already carried out transports to other locations and drawn up new lists of supplies. have already carried out transports to other localities and drawn up new lists of requirements.
For many of us, especially our friends from the Ahr Valley, the devastating images of the 2021 floods in the Ahr Valley are omnipresent. Our team, some of whom experienced the floods here in Dresden in 2002, also had these images in mind when we arrived in the areas.
The destruction and devastation caused by the floods cannot be put into words. But they show what consequences climate change can have for us all.
Due to the impressions and the massive amount of work that lies ahead of us, we are preparing for a longer deployment in the flood areas.
Of course, you could say that there are enough large organizations that help on the ground!
Yes, they exist, but their aim is to maintain and rebuild the infrastructure and provide people with medical care.
Our greatest concern, however, is to deliver aid from door to door so that it actually gets to where it is needed, no matter how destroyed the roads are, we will fight our way through!
The next destinations will be two small villages where too little aid is still arriving.
